Meetings

We meet on the first Thursday of every month at 4PM. Most meetings feature a presentation from a CVHR member or outside guest, followed by questions and discussion.

Meetings from January – March are held virtually on Zoom.

Meetings from April – December are held at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center in downtown Charlottesville. Most meetings are also streamed on Zoom.

    Pat Brodowski, retired vegetable gardener of Monticello, will present “From Forager to Farmer, the Domestication of Food Plants in the Americas with attention to Monacan Agriculture.” Greene County, Virginia is adjacent to the Eastern Agricultural Complex, one of 5 world sites where cultivation of plant foods began. We will examine the early Monacan plant foods and the impact of plant introduction, and attitudes toward production and dispersion from early explorers such as Columbus, to plant collectors such as Jefferson.
